Hey Guys,
I've just seen that Jeremy the helpful host father has updated the blog again....He's right (always) and I'm now booked on the Abyss Black Water Rafting tour. Todd, the Kiwi bus driver organized that for me and helped me with the decision so finally i did the expensive one, five hours of adventure and three hours underground. I seem to be the only girl who's doing the big one but the other guys are ok.
There's one I got to know today as we did the Ruakuri walk together (it was raining so we were only three people) which is said to be the best 30 minute walk in New Zealand....
Situated two kilometres from the world-renowned Waitomo glowworm cave and 17 kilometres from the King Country town of Te Kuiti, Ruakuri contains a fascinating combination of natural features and cultural history.
Things to see
The reserve contains beautiful native bush, classic limestone outcrops, caves (picture below), tunnels, gorges and cantilevered walkways high above the rushing water. It is also a place of strong historical, cultural and spiritual significance.
A 30-minute loop-walk from the carpark will take you to the Ruakuri natural tunnel, including an unusual 'side view' of the stream and tunnel entrance.
It was pretty awesome actually, it looks like rainforest at that place and we came past a few cave entries so we started getting really excited about the trip tomorrow.
I'm running out of time....more at a later time
lots of love
